Coordinated disinformation drives scams, fuels harassment and can put people in danger. It also sits close to questions of opinion and belief, where no operating system should be the judge.
Two different tools
PurityOS treats these as separate problems. Sources with a documented record of coordinated disinformation — fake news networks, impersonation sites, bot-driven campaigns — can be filtered. Individual claims that are misleading get a context label with links to the evidence, rather than being hidden.
Your setting, not ours
Each profile sets a sensible default, and the level of filtering can be changed. Schools often favour labels to support media literacy; individuals can choose stricter filtering for themselves.
Showing our work
Every label explains why it appeared and where the evidence comes from. If it can’t be explained in plain language, it shouldn’t be on the screen.
